Feliz Dikkatli exploded onto the contemporary art scene with her amazing surreal global landscape artworks. She is a visionary artist who sees the world as alive and deeply connected to womanhood. Her own gypsy ancestry is carefully laced through her images and having lived and travelled extensively through the Middle East her artwork is part of her nomadic identity. Feliz hopes to bridge the gap between East and West – one which has been polarised by western imperialist military action – through creating unique art that celebrates landscapes’ beauty, a terrain beyond politics. As an artist Feliz seeks to build a harmonious connection between these two poles, crafting something serene yet unnerving: a new world for exploration. Through Feliz’s work of moulding, mapping, and stitching together both sides of this cultural divide she offers audiences around the globe an unparalleled view into our interconnectedness through her global landscape artworks.
The earth is a womb and and all life is born and suckles on her breast. I see the landscape as mother, the mountains Her breasts, the rivers Her milk, feeding us. Her pains are the men who trample on Her with their wars and inflict scars with their greed. By uniting the landscapes of two worlds, Mother bears a new child. One of love, harmony and interconnectedness. It is this child that you see in my art.
